Assignment: Develop a game for the Pacific Science Center

I had the opportunity to work in a team to develop a game for the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. We knew right away that we were interested in a location based alternate reality game that would inspire patrons to explore the museum.

The Process

We went through a lot of different proposals of how to implement our game. We finally decided on a mobile website, which would hold the narrative and prompt the player to search the museum for clues to answer trivia and advance through the story. We liked the idea of a 'choose your own adventure', where the player could decide to be the good guy or the bad guy. This, of course, made for a more difficult storyline and narrative.

First, we figured out the order and structure of the game.

Next, we wrote a more detailed story outline.

Once we had a solid narrative, we started building the website!

Below is a sample page (keep in mind, it's meant for a mobile device)
